Mission Statement
The purpose of our working group, Tioughnioga Think Tank, is to grow cohesive community spirit of all citizens within the collective communities of Towns and a Village of Cuyler, Fabius, Georgetown, Lincklaen, Nelson, Otselic, Sheds, and DeRuyter respectfully. We strive to foster collaborations between organizations, creating greater involvement & participation; generating more opportunities for our citizens and local business; and to promote the area to attract fiscal investment by imported patrons to shops & restaurants, and to civic group fundraisers.
We are surrounded by spectacular natural landscapes; strategically located on a State Route connecting to Federal highways (US 81 and 90); within 45 minutes to nearly a dozen colleges; have a community based k-12 school; one of the lowest property tax rates in Madison County; and have the benefit of largely intact “Main Streets” complimented by original residential structures and family farms outlying hamlets and villages.
Working together, we can better support the goals of associations, organizations, business’ and our local governments.
Towards these goals, we propose a Tioughnioga Winter Carnival to be held January 13-15. The event would be a 3-day event involving the school, area organization & associations and businesses. We would publicize throughout CNY to attract participation/$; and hope to make this one of a series of annual events held in the area.
